In 2023, we conducted a working group to create a model tourist course for Kure City.
Kure residents divided into groups to think about where they would like tourists to visit, what their attractions are, and how to get there, and created six model itineraries.
There are plenty of tourist spots recommended by Kure residents!

A sample itinerary for visitors to the Yamato Museum

Is your sightseeing in Kure complete with just the Yamato Museum?
If you come all the way to the Yamato Museum, here are some spots you should definitely visit.
This is a model course that allows you to experience Kure city's history and prayers for peace.

The island of Kure is close to the sea and is characterized by its gentle waves.

A model itinerary for a girls' trip to fully enjoy Tobishima

The theme is "A girls' trip to fully enjoy Tobishima."
The route that connects six islands in Kure City and one island in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture with seven bridges is called the Akinada Tobishima Kaido.
The Akinada Islands, through which the Tobishima Kaido passes, have many attractions, including cute and delicious cafes, relaxing hot springs, art museums, and fruit picking.
This course allows you to fully enjoy the Tobishima Kaido through delicious gourmet food and wonderful experiences.

Before the war, Kure was the birthplace of the Yamato battleship and prospered as the leading naval port in the Orient.
It continues to make its mark on history as a shipbuilding town and home to the Maritime Self-Defense Force.

A recommended itinerary for history buffs aged 60 and over

If you visit the Yamato Museum, why not also take a trip to the Kamegakubi Launch Site?
The Kamegakubi Launch Site is located on the eastern end of Kurahashi Island in the southern part of Kure City. It is the site of a test firing site where test firings of the battleship Yamato's cannons were conducted. It is a valuable place where one can learn about the history of Kure City, with remains of measurement stations, inspection stations, piers and other structures that were constructed as a naval fortress area.
