This is a major event that brings spring to Kure. It is packed with attractions, an international bazaar, a huge parade down Kuramoto Street, and much more.

Late March to early May

This park offers a magnificent view of the "Ondo Strait," said to have been opened by Taira no Kiyomori, and the beautiful crimson arch bridge, "Ondo Ohashi." From late March to early April, you can enjoy about 2,300 cherry trees, and from late April to early May, about 8,300 azaleas.

Early to mid-April

The Sazanami Skyline stretches from Kawajiri-cho, Kure City, at the foot of the mountain to the summit of Mt. Noro, which is 839 meters above sea level. There are observation decks at various points offering a panoramic view of the Akinada Tobishima Kaido, making it a popular spot for hiking and driving. In spring, a long tunnel is formed by several types of cherry blossoms, making it a perfect spot for cherry blossom viewing. After the cherry blossom season, the deep green of summer arrives, and in autumn the area changes into a famous spot for autumn leaves. Near the summit is Noro Kogen Lodge, where you can stay overnight and enjoy lunch.

Saturday in late July or early August

The grand fireworks that are launched with the escort ships in the background are a spectacular sight.

October

In Shimokamagari, where Korean envoys made port of call during the Edo period, participants will dress in period costumes and parade through the town like something out of a historical picture scroll.

You can enjoy "all Kure gourmet" such as Kure Maritime Self-Defense Force curry and Kure Navy gourmet.

October to November

We will be holding a special limited-time exhibition of cultural properties that make up Japan Heritage, which are not normally available to the public, as well as a Japan Heritage panel exhibition.

November

The "Kure Food Festival" will be held in the Kuramoto Street Park area. At the venue, you can enjoy Kure specialties such as "gansu udon," "nikujaga" (beef and potato stew) that originated in Kure, "Kure JMSDF curry," "grilled oysters," "gansu burger," "chirimen" (dried baby sardines), and "Yamato Ramune," as well as gourmet food from India and around the world!

December to January

The illuminations unique to Kure will envelop Kuramoto-dori. Why not take a stroll along the street?

February

This is a food event where you can enjoy seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, focusing on seasonal oysters, a winter staple.

April to March of the following year

Eat curry at a store that serves "Kure JMSDF Curry" and collect original ship logo stickers!
