The Charms of Kure

This is what Kure City is like.

Kure City, located in the south-central part of Hiroshima Prefecture, is a shipbuilding town that once flourished as "the largest naval port in the Orient." Visitors can learn about the history and technology of modern Japan at the "Yamato Museum" and the "Iron Whale Museum," and there are also scenic spots scattered throughout the city, such as the "Tobishima Kaido" and "Kurahashi Island" with their beautiful archipelago views, and "Mitarai" which retains the atmosphere of the Edo period. The city also boasts a diverse culinary scene, offering local specialties such as "Kure Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry," "Oysters," "Kure Cold Noodles," and fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, allowing visitors to enjoy flavors unique to a port town.
